As he stands,
Ashore on the sands of Lake Charles
With a vigilant gaze, he surveys, for what might walk or
crawl.
In front of crimson clouds, stressed in gold, amidst the
dark of night.
They follow his journeys reflecting his vehement, in a
decadent moonlight.
He begins his work.
He draws his sword to signal, as quiet and soft as the Lake
Charles surf,
His mates hollow the sand, until they hit rock, and earth.
Carefully they descend the precious cargo in the gravely
hollows,
That some still seek today as folk tale follows.
The where about's of his treasure, that lay along the Gulf
and inland.
Buried with erroneous variances of his life, his life of
Contraband.
For the rest of us. we let the Pirates have the city for two
weeks
Giving way to merriment, carnivals, fireworks, and tasty
southern treats
As hordes of people gather in the street
In peaceful, forgiving, revelry and liberation, brought forth
by a Pirate Pioneer
The infamous, and famous..... Jean Lafitte.
